Disability Summit: Self, Expressions of Individuality, and the Groups to which People Belong

The 2018 "Iowa Regents Institutions Disability Summit: Self, Expressions of Individuality, and the Groups to which People Belong" will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Maucker Union Ballrooms A, B, & C. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. with a light breakfast. A sack lunch and snacks during the day will be provided.

This event is free with a festive twist!  As you know, October 31 is Halloween. As a festive way to get into the Halloween spirit while also helping someone in need, we ask that you consider bringing an item for the upcoming on-campus food and essentials pantry. Items needed include: foods (cereal, canned fruit or vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, rice, beans, canned meat), cooking essentials (can openers, pots, pans, strainers, cooking utensils), and essentials (shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap). These items will be used to support students who experience food insecurity here at UNI.

Note: We are no longer accepting registrations for the Summit. If you need to update or change your registration or have any questions regarding the Summit, please contact Student Accessibility Services at 319-273-2677 Relay 711 or

To register, please complete the 2018 Disability Summit registration form. Advanced registration is required. Registration is limited, and priority will be given on a first come, first served basis. Accessible Facilities

Maucker Union has four accessible entrances. Two are on the west side of the building, one on the north side and one on the south side. Maucker Union is a multi-functional facility. Whether it's a cup of coffee from Chat's, a meal from Prexy's, a candy bar or T-shirt from Essentials, or a quick workout at Health Beat, Maucker Union can meet all your needs. Also, because it's connected to Lang Hall by an underground tunnel, Maucker serves as a convenient short cut during cold or rainy days.

Accessible restrooms are located right outside of the Maucker Union Ballrooms on the west side.

If you need any information about the Maucker Union's accessibility, please stop by the Summit registration desk and we would be happy to assist you or feel free to contact us in advance.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UNI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Kelly Fiddelke at 319-273-2677 Relay 711 or at least one week prior to the event.
